Woman Killed in Two-Vehicle Wreck Involving an 18-Wheeler

Smith County, TX (12/6/2020) – A woman is dead after a two-vehicle wreck occurred Sunday afternoon.

The accident occurred when an SUV swerved into the path of an 18-wheeler and the two collided. Vicki Smith, 69, was driving her Toyota Rav4 SUV on State Highway 135 when she veered into the northbound lane and caused a Mack truck tractor pulling a Fruehauf Corporation pole trailer driven by 48-year-old Dexter Cary to collide with her SUV. 

Smith was pronounced dead after being taken to UT Health East Texas in Tyler. 

Cary was treated and released at the scene. 

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
