Harris County, TX (11/22/2020) – A young woman was killed after being involved in a wreck with a suspected drunk driver in north Houston.
The accident occurred around 1:30 p.m. Sunday on West Road. An altercation broke out near a bank parking lot before a man got into a Mazda 3 driven by 19-year-old Adrienne Exum. She drove off unrestrained and with her car door wide open. That’s when a Dodge pickup truck driven by Heriberto Fuerte-Padilla came by and hit her.
Exum was ejected and killed at the scene after her head struck the pavement.
The two men were detained.
Padilla was charged with a DWI and failure to render aid.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
Wrongful Death Lawyers
The dangers of drunk driving are well known. The impairment caused by alcohol consumption frequently leads to devastating vehicle collisions which often result in incapacitating injuries and even deaths. Because a collision caused by a drunk driver led to the death of a 19-year-old woman, the right to file a wrongful death claim is substantial. To do so, it’s important to consult legal counsel while you file your claim since insurance companies may trick you into settling with little to no money.
The best way to make sure you are treated fairly after your car accident is to hire a lawyer who knows the law and who is willing to fight to make sure that you are treated fairly.
