San Antonio, TX (3/30/2021) – An 18-wheeler flipped and caused multiple power lines to go down on the Northeast Side of San Antonio.
The incident happened at Interstate Highway 35 North and Eisenhauer Road when an 18-wheeler took down a TxDOT road sign and a utility pole. Police say the truck was headed at highway speed when its dump bed trailer hydraulics began to raise and hit the overhead power and fiber optic lines.
The impact caused the 18-wheeler to overturn and break the wires, which also impacted other vehicles. Additionally, the powerlines knocked down by the truck caused a grass fire and a fire on a nearby building.
The driver and passenger of the 18-wheeler were taken to area hospitals.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
