3-year-old and 9-year-old Flown by Life Flight after 18-Wheeler Crash on I-10

Greater Houston, TX (July 30, 2019) – Several people, including two children were injured after a five vehicle collision on the Katy Freeway.

The car accident happened Tuesday around 6:50 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the Katy Freeway near Greenhouse.

The crash involved several vehicles and an 18-wheeler.

According to Lynn Nguyen, Chief of Vehicular Crimes, a white truck stopped in a moving lane of traffic because a water bottle was stuck underneath the driver’s brake and gas pedals.

The driver put on his hazard lights as he tried to remove the bottle.

A second and third car were able to stop and did not hit him. However, a fourth vehicle, a gray Dodge Ram truck couldn’t stop in time and collided into the car.

Followed by an 18-wheeler that slammed into the Dodge Ram. The pickup truck was carrying the 3-year-old and 9-year-old.

Both children were transported by Life Flight to Memorial Herman Hospital. The 3-year-old has a brain hemorrhage and the 9-year-old has a skull fracture.

Others involved in the crash were transported by ambulance to hospitals or were treated on the scene.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
