Cedric Benson and Passenger Dies in Motorcycle Crash in Austin, TX

Austin, TX (August 19, 2019) – Two people are dead after a major motorcycle collision in Austin, Texas.

The motorcycle accident happened Saturday, August 17th around 10:20 p.m.

According to authorities Cedric Benson and Aamna Najam were riding a BMW motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed westbound in the left lane of FM 2222.

A van was stopped at the T-intersection of Mount Bonnell Road and FM 2222. The van was attempting to make a left turn on FM 2222 when it was struck by Benson as a result, the van burst into flames.

Mr. Benson and Ms. Najam were pronounced dead at the scene.

The two people in the minivan stayed on the scene during the investigation.

Authorities report that speed and poor visibility contributed to the crash. There have been at least 10 people that have been injured near this intersection and a lot more complaints.

Cedric Benson is a former NFL running back and played for the University of Texas. He was 36.

Aamna Najam, 27, earned her Ph.D. in audiology from University of Texas and was recently hired as an audiologist.

Police reports will be made available in ten days.
