A driver died in a rear-end collision due to foggy conditions in Houston early Tuesday morning.
The car accident occurred around 2:00 a.m. at the intersection of TC Jester and North Sam Houston Parkway in northwest Harris County.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the SUV was heading west on the feeder of North Sam Houston Parkway when the vehicle slammed into the 18-wheeler stopped at a red light. Two people had to be cut out of the car. The driver died at Houston Northwest Medical Center and the condition of the passenger is undetermined. The driver of the 18-wheeler was not injured.
Crash investigators are working to determine if the dense fog played a factor in the fatal wreck between the SUV and 18-wheeler. Police accident reports will be made available in 10 business days.
According to weather reports, dense fog is dropping the visibility to near zero across Houston. A Dense Fog Advisory has been extended through 10:00 a.m.
