HOUSTON (September 27,2018)– A 46-year-old man died on Highway 90 after rear-ending an 18-wheeler and being struck by two vehicles.
Arrick Hillard was driving a gray BMW sedan heading westbound on Wallisville Road when he collided into a tractor-trailer at the Highway 90 intersection. Mr. Hillard fled the scene leaving his two children in the car.
According to authorities, Hillard ran towards the northeast lanes of Highway 90 where he was struck by a silver Nissan Altima, climbed the barrier and ran to the southwest lanes of Highway 90, where he was hit by a blue GMC Terrain. The medical examiner pronounced Mr. Hillard dead around 9:30 p.m. at 11400 Highway 90. The owner of the two vehicles were not charged.
Mr. Hillard’s children, a 5-year-old boy and a 4-year-old girl were taken to a local hospital. The girl suffered injuries on her neck and collarbone. She had two surgeries and remains in ICU. The boy did not suffer significant injuries.
The crash remains under investigation and police reports will be made available in ten days.
