Cherokee County, TX (12/11/2019) – A woman is now dead after being getting hit by a vehicle while pushing a disabled vehicle on a highway in Cherokee County Sunday night.
The incident happened Sunday around 10:09 p.m. According to DPS, a driver and a passenger of a Chevrolet S-10 were pushing that vehicle in the southbound lane on FM 346 when a Ford Fusion, driven by 24-year-old Dakota Aaron Kinnett, was headed southbound and struck Lanika Michelle Russell, 35, after swerving to avoid hitting the car.
Russell was transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Kinnett reportedly suffered no injuries from the accident.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
