Man Dead after Fatal Collision in Austin, Texas

Austin, TX (1/28/2020) – A man is now dead after a collision in southeast Travis County Thursday morning.

According to DPS, the accident occurred around 8:30 a.m. when a Chevy Silverado driven by 54-year-old Jesus Alejandro Galvan headed south on Thaxton Road crossed the center line and struck a Chevy Cobalt headed northbound. A third vehicle ended up in a ditch to avoid the wreck.

The driver of the Cobalt, 36-year-old Gregory Gonzales, died at the scene after CPR was performed on him.

Another man was taken to the hospital via STARFlight for treatment of serious injuries.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.

The victims in the head-on accident above have yet to be identified by officials. Once they are identified, identifying who is at-fault will help address the cause of the accident and who is liable for the cause of the crash. Any evidence obtained from the scene, whether it be interviews, video, or ECM data, will be extremely useful if this case files suit and goes to trial.
