Houston Officer Hit by Red Light Runner

Houston, TX (5/1/2020) – A Houston police officer was hit by a car in downtown Houston after a driver ran a red light.

It happened around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the intersection of Lamar and San Jacinto. The police officer was on a motorcycle when the driver admitted to running the red light.

The officer suffered injuries to his shoulders. He is expected to recover.

Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.

Running a red light at a traffic stop is a violation of Texas roadway laws, and a clear indication of negligence.
