San Antonio, TX (5/13/2020) – One man was left dead after a fatal accident on the Far South Side of San Antonio Friday.
The accident happened around midnight on Friday on Highway 16 and Mission Gate. Police discovered three vehicles with heavy damage. According to investigators, Levi David Anderton, 33, tried to cross Highway 16 in his Dodge Challenger when he was hit by two other vehicles headed southbound on the highway.
Anderton was killed at the scene.
The two other drivers’ conditions are unknown at this time.
Crash investigators will review all factors that may have led up to the accident and police reports will be made available in fourteen days.
The results of the investigation will reveal exactly why Anderton decided to drive across Highway 16. Bringing in an Engine Control Module (ECM) will be vital to the investigation since it will record whether or not Anderton made an attempt to stop his vehicle before driving across the highway. Usually for wrong-way collisions, lack of sleep, intoxication, or distracted driving are big influencers as to why these kinds of accidents occur.
